I can’t believe Christmas is next week! Seriously, how do the years keep flying by like this?
I’m sure for a lot of us makeup collectors, Christmas means adding to our makeup collection either through presents, gift cards, or just stuff we’re buying personally during all of these amazing sales.
Speaking of sales, I feel like the sales on makeup are waaaaay better this holiday season than I’ve seen in previous years. I’ve resisted for the most part, but damn, some of them I’ve had to leap on.
If you are anything like me, more makeup means I have to find new ways to properly store it. Even though I’m the only one who sees my collection most of the time, I like it to be organized and pleasing to look at. That’s half the fun right?
For the longest time, getting ready would literally take me forever. My process was quite simple and it wasn’t the application that was time-consuming, it was digging through my shit.
I know what I have, but it would take me so long to find the products I wanted to use because my organization was a giant fail.
I’m finally to the point now after switching up my studio several times and changing my layout more times than I can count that I am thoroughly enjoying my setup and I think it is primarily due to the organizers.
Today I’m going to share with you the exact organizers I use to store and display my collection. I use several and they are from different retailers so bare with me.
If you’ve been struggling to keep your shit organized, I’ve come to the rescue. Perhaps makeup organization is my superpower…
We’ll start with some of my clear tiered containers from Amazon.
This first one is a 2-piece organizer with 4 drawers on the bottom and a sectioned tray that sits on top.
I store all of my concealers and some random products in the drawers like primers, a few liquid shadows, and such.
This works out well because I can see all of my concealers lined up without having to dig through a drawer. They lay in a single line which is convenient.
I change out the top section frequently depending on what new items I have, but currently it houses skincare, my Stila Magnificent Metal Shadows, and my Beauty And The Beast Lipstick collection from Lorac.
I also have some lipsticks I’m saving for my best friend in plain sight so I don’t forget them. LOL
This item is still available on Amazon here and it fairly affordable at around $17.00.
Next up is another Amazon snag that I use to store my lipsticks, glosses, and some liners etc.
I have two of these and again, I switch up the contents depending on my mood and what trend I’m in at the time.
Right now this one is holding all of my new Dear Katie Brown glitter liquid liners that I picked up for under $4 ea on Black Friday.
In the back and in my second piece are all of my other glosses and liquid lipsticks.
These containers are incredibly affordable at just $7. I definitely recommend these because you can use them for so much.
They are great for lipstick bullets, glosses, mascaras, liners, whatever really. They also graduate upwards so you can view everything in one shot.
You can find these here.
Next up is yet another Amazon find. Amazon is killing the game on affordable organizers.
This guy I use for a little bit of everything.
This organizer is one piece but has several sections. On the top tray, I store some perfumes, heavier setting sprays, and loose pigments.
By the way, my husband was totally taken aback by those neon-colored loose pigments in that top row. He just doesn’t understand.
In the drawers, I house all of my eyeliners, mascaras, brow products, and random things like glitter glues and lash glue.
These drawers are great for so many things. You could store loose glitters in there, lip products if you didn’t pick up the separate organizers, concealers, whatever.
The side cubbies are attached and I use those for more liners. Specifically, most of my glitter and colored liners like my Too Faced glitter liners and my Tarte ones as well.
I also have some random holo lipsticks and the Pur Cosmetics My Little Pony glitter sticks.
I couldn’t find a link to this container anymore so I am not sure if it was discontinued. If you can’t find it, just pick up another set of the drawered pieces and it’ll do you just fine.
This guy I use for most of my foundations, larger primers, and some random products like loose pigments and highlighting drops.
The tiers are perfect for most of my foundation bottles and primers.
This piece also holds a lot of product. I own quite a few foundations and almost all of them fit in this one piece, which is pretty incredible.
You can pick this up on Amazon for around $16.00 here.
The last Amazon find is this guy here.
This is a 3- tiered shelving piece with no lip around the edges so you aren’t bound to product width like the previous piece.
Here I store the products that are too wide to fit on the levels with lips over the edge. This is mostly setting sprays and foundations.
This is technically a clear spice rack, but it works great for makeup. You can pick it up for around $7.00 here.
Okay, moving on from Amazon. Next is palette organizers.
This one was a pain in the ass. It took my forevveerrrr to get a system in place that worked well for all of my eyeshadow palettes.
The first set of drawers are from Michaels.
These are white 5 drawer organizers meant for crafts, but they work really really well for storing makeup.
Now I have an insanely ridiculous collection of eyeshadow palettes that no normal human being needs.
I think my last tally was around 130 palettes…. yikes.
If you aren’t like me and have any sense of self-control, then you probably don’t need all of these drawers just for palettes.
In that case, you can use these to store single shadows like the Colourpop Super Shocks, bronzers, blushes, or highlighters and such.
The stickers on the one set I made with my Cricut machine so they come blank. That is another cool thing about these drawers though is that you can totally decorate them to add your own flair.
If you plan on picking these up, watch for sales and check or coupons. I ended up getting mine for like $40 each so if you aren’t in a hurry, just monitor them until they go on sale.
You can find them here.
I know the Alex drawers are really popular too and Impressions Vanity has some beautiful tall drawer sets, but they are out of my budget so these are perfect alternatives.
The final set of organizers, and by far my favorite, are these clear containers from The Container Store.
These are technically shoe containers, but they work oh so well for makeup. I came across these after seeing them in a YouTuber’s organizing video.
So sorry, I really don’t remember who it was, but a ton of them use these now.
They come in a few different sizes. I have an extra-wide container on the bottom to store my oversized palettes like the Morphe palettes and Jeffery Star.
Next up are smaller containers that nest right on top of that one and here I have one for bronzers, one for blushes, one for single highlighters, and one for my single shadows.
I have 5 medium-sized not pictured that I store products I need to try/ review, highlighter palettes, random skincare, and misc items.
These are game-changers. My makeup organization has never been so perfect before I found these. If you can only grab one thing, grab these containers here.
Last up are my brushes. These are simple really. I just used some candle jars I had around the house to hold them.
With brushes, you can use anything really.
All in all, I have about $250.00 invested in the organizing pieces I’ve mentioned. Keep in mind though, that I did not buy all of this at once. The organizers have slowly grown over the years as my makeup collection has grown.
I hope this post has helped you decide how you want your beauty space to look. I think organizing is key to keeping all of your products in the best shape possible and more importantly, making sure everything is accessible.
If you use organizers I haven’t mentioned that you find life-changing, let us know in the comments below. I’m always open to change!
Thanks for reading guys!
