Coloured Raine is quickly blossoming into one of the most spoken of brands in the beauty industry. Their intensely active social media accounts help to keep this brand fresh in the minds of makeup lovers and create a strong loyalty with new followers.
If you are unfamiliar with Coloured Raine, you can find out more about the brand and why I am so intrigued with them here.
At the time of my “Beauty Brand of The Month” post, I had not yet tried any of Coloured Raine’s products. I am happy to report today that I received a package from them to review and share my opinion on.

Thank you very much to Coloured Raine for sending the package over and providing me with the product to review for all of you guys!
The Coloured Raine Queen of Hearts palette retails for $32 and contains 12 shades, 6 mattes, and 6 foils.
This is a very large palette with each shade weighing in at 1.5g. Here is how the Queen of Hearts palette compares to other popular shadow palettes in terms of weight:
Note: All weight comparisons are per shade, not per palette.
Coloured Raine “Queen of Hearts” Palette: 1.5g
Anastasia Beverly Hills “Soft Glam” Palette: .74g
Urban Decay “Born To Run” Palette: .80g
Tarte “Tartelette In Bloom” Palette: 1.5g
Not only is the amount of product per pan impressive, but the actual size of the component is also quite large which can be a good thing or a bad thing.
The component does allow the shades to be more spaced out, but large packaging tends to not be very travel-friendly. Luckily, this component is thin so it is still quite easy to tote around.
The shades in this palette are absolutely beautiful. I love the color story and I feel the palette really does fit the “regal” theme.
I tend to gravitate towards warm-toned shadows which is what this palette primarily consists of. I think the magenta and orange shades compliment each other very well.
If you are more of a cool-toned lover, then this palette may not be the one for you.
Now I feel like we need to have a very serious conversation about the foiled metallics in this palette…
They are f***ing amazing. Seriously. Every single time I swatch or apply one of the metallics I am blown away. The intensity of every shade is incredible. I would literally buy this palette just for the metallics. Hands down. Go do it.
I found a glitter primer isn’t even necessary to make these shades pop, but I use one anyway to extend the lasting power.
The mattes are very nice too. I did have an issue with the texture of the shade Ladyship. As soon as I dipped into it, I noticed a scratchy appearance in the formula. It’s a bit difficult to describe so here is a photo of it.

The shade blends out fine, but the texture is dry and scratchy. I’ve never seen anything quite like this before so I cannot speak as to what caused this, but Ladyship is the only shade I experienced this issue with.
If you’ve experienced something similar with this palette or any palette, comment down below and let me know your experience and which palette.
I’m also wondering if it may just be the palette I received because several artists on social media rave about the palette and I’ve seen no other complaints similar to this so I don’t know. May just be a fluke.
Here is a closeup of another shade in the palette, Princess, and you can see the texture is just fine. I’ve used this shade several times too with absolutely no issues whatsoever.

The texture of the matte shades is not the softest I’ve ever felt, but the colors do have a good payoff and apply and blend well.
I think the color selection for the mattes is spot on. This palette really has all of the necessary shades to make an eye look complete including setting shades, transition shades, crease shades, deeper outer v shades, and even includes a nice pop of color in the shade Empress.
If you’ve tried this palette, drop a comment down below and let me know how you like it. Also, please share your looks with me on Twitter at @brigremlin. I’d love to see your art.

Here is my breakdown of each shade in the palette.
All in all, I think Coloured Raine’s Queen of Hearts palette is well worth the purchase. It is a great all-in-one palette that you can easily travel with without needing any other complimentary palettes.
Coloured Raine really did something with this one and I’m looking forward to what they bring us next.
