When it comes to long-wear makeup options, most of my attention has always gone to choosing the perfect foundation. While I will not argue that foundation is absolutely important, finding the right setting powders for oily skin is pretty close in rankings.

If you have oily skin, it is imperative that you are using a setting powder if you really want to get the most wear out of your makeup. I went most of my life without powder and I’m telling you, my world was turned upside down the minute I tried it.
Primers are great at filling pores and creating the beginning base and oil-free foundations are essential for fighting off oils, but setting powders are your main friend when it comes to soaking up what oils do break through the barriers.
Powders can be tricky to choose so today I will share with you my tried and true settings powders for oily skin that I personally have put to the test.
Tip: When trying a new setting powder, use a primer and foundation that you know works for you. That way you can really test the performance of the setting powder through your oils.
This setting powder is for normal-oily skin types and gives a matte, soft-focus effect. I primarily use it with a damp beauty sponge and press it into my under eye area to set concealer. It smoothes out my under-eye concealer beautifully and prevents creasing all day long.
You can also tap some of the powder into the lid and use a fluffy powder brush to gently buff the powder into the skin to set your entire face.
I love Too Faced products and this loose powder is no exception. Too Faced has two formulas of loose powder, Born This Way and Peach Powder, both of which work wonderfully.
I use this powder to set my entire face when I need a goof translucent powder that will perfect my skin without altering the color of my foundation.
Use a damp beauty sponge to gently press this powder into the out regions of your face and anywhere you need to hide pores or protect against oils.
This powder pairs perfectly with the Too Faced Peach Perfect foundation. A match made in heaven!
You’re probably thinking I’m crazy with this next recommendation since everyone is always saying, “Never set your foundation with another foundation.” I assure you, this powder specifically works great.
Laura Geller has an entire line of baked products, this foundation included, that do wonders at creating a flawless appearance. I use this powder with a fluffy powder brush and dip in lightly, gently buffing the powder over my foundation.
Not only does this foundation set very well, it gives off the most flawless finish. If you are having a bad foundation day and can’t get your makeup to set right, apply this powder with a light hand and watch the imperfections disappear.
This powder does come in different shades since it is a foundation so make sure to pay attention to the shade when you are buying it. I use the shade light.
Application: Use a fluffy powder brush and dip into the powder, tapping off the excess. With a very light hand, gently buff the powder into the outer part of the face for a perfect finish, careful to avoid the under eye area.
I hope you all found this post helpful and will give these powders a try if you are struggling with your oily skin. Don’t forget how important it is to set your face with a powder to really help keep those oils at bay. If you have any other recommendations, leave a comment down below!
